Live from Washington D.C.

Obviously it’s been quite sometime since I’ve been able to rant and rave on this blog, so to the one or two people that actually read this, I’m sorry. I’m sure it hasn’t been too much of a loss for you, but I apologize nonetheless. I had convinced myself that I would be able to keep up with it amidst the hustle and bustle of sophomore year in Austin, but, after a couple of posts, it became abundantly clear that I was mistaken – too much school, too little time for blogging.

However, it brings me great joy to announce that I will be resurrecting the blog during the summer. As some of you may know, I am in Washington DC interning on Capitol Hill. I will be here for about 2 months and I couldn’t think of a better setting to resume my political musing. I’m hoping to cover a wide range of topics over the summer, and hopefully not all political ones. There’s a lot going on here in DC and all across the United States, and much of it will certainly prove decisive in defining the course our country takes in the years to come. I do not expect to shed any kind of earth-shattering light on any of these issues, and I certainly don’t expect to change anyone’s mind or political allegiances. My loan goal is to present the perspective of a young American who is both concerned and hopeful for the future of the United States, and who is eager to see our great country defend and nurture the life, liberty, and happiness of all its citizens.

For the past couple of years I have been struck by the enormous responsibility that is being laid on the shoulders of the generation of young Americans to which I belong. The time is coming when the torch will be passed onto myself and my peers, and it is my hope that we will be ready to accept it. It is from that perspective that I have and will continue to write this blog. I deeply believe that ours is a country to love, and I hope my words will convey that truth to anyone who happens to read these words.
